Inactivated emulsion vaccine against porcine Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae
The vaccine is composed of the following components: anatoxins ApxI, ApxII, ApxIII and porcine Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae outer membrane proteins, oil adjuvant Montanide ISA 206 and sodium chloride isotonic solution.
Indications
The vaccine is intended for the prevention of porcine Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae on farms infected with or at risk of the disease.
Route of administration
At least 7-week old piglets should be vaccinated twice with a 3-4 week interval. One vaccine dose (1.0 cm3) should be administered intramuscularly in the neck area. Pregnant sows should be vaccinated once with a double vaccine dose (2.0 cm3) 3-4 weeks prior to the expected date of farrowing. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly in the upper third of the neck. Vaccination of sows does not exclude further vaccination of piglets.
Immunity
The vaccine induces immunity response in pigs to all known serotypes of porcine Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae 2 weeks after the second vaccination. The immunity lasts for at least 6 months. Colostral immunity in piglets from vaccinated sows protects the former from the disease for 2 months.
Storage conditions
The vaccine shelf life is 18 months from the date of production provided that storage and transportation conditions are met. The vaccine should be stored and transported in dry dark place at 2 – 8 °C.
