Inactivated emulsion vaccine against porcine parvovirus infection
Description
The vaccine contains inactivated PPV VL-94 strain grown in continuous cell culture and oil adjuvant. The vaccine is a homogeneous emulsion of white or white-pink colour. Slight emulsion creaming during its storage is admissible. The emulsion becomes homogeneous again after gentle shaking. Indications The vaccine is intended for preventive immunization of pigs on farms infected with and at risk of the PPV infection. Only clinically healthy animals should be vaccinated.
Route of administration
The vaccine is administered at a dose of 1.0 cm3 intramuscularly in the upper third of the neck regardless of the pig age. Sows, replacement gilts and breeding boars are vaccinated twice with a 20-30 day interval not later than 3 weeks before service (insemination). Subsequently, previously immunized sows are vaccinated once 3-4 weeks before service (insemination) and breeding boars are revaccinated every 6 months. On PPV infected farms pigs are vaccinated at the age of 1.5-2.5 months twice with a 20-30 day interval.
Immunity
The vaccine induces the immune response to porcine parvovirus infection and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome on day 21 after being administered twice. The immunity lasts for 6 months.
Storage conditions
The vaccine shelf-life is 12 months from the date of its production. The vaccine should not be used after its expiry date. The vaccine should be stored in dry dark place at 2 – 8 °C. Freezing of the vaccine is not allowed.
