Emulsion mono-and polyvalent vaccine for FMD prophylaxis in pigs (from virus grown in BHK-21 cells)


The vaccine is a water-in-oil emulsion of white-pink colour and slightly viscous consistency. A slight separation of oil in the upper part of the vial is possible at storage. The vaccine restores its homogeneity at shaking.


The inactivated vaccine is intended for FMD prophylaxis in pigs caused by the virus of A, O, C ¬, Asia-1, SAT-1, SAT-2 and SAT-3 types. On FMD affected farms all pigs are vaccinated twice from one-day old age with _ 10-14-day interval followed by revaccination in 6 months. On farms under threat piglets are vaccinated once from 2-3-month-old age and revaccinated every 6 months.

Vaccination route

The vaccine is injected intramuscularly behind the ear at doses labeled on the vials under aseptic and antiseptic conditions. Prior to use the vaccine should be heated in water bath up to the temperature of 30-35°¬ in order to reduce viscosity and regularly shaken duringuse.


None. There are no limitations as to the use of meat from healthy vaccinated animals.


The vaccine induces strong inununity against foot-andmouth disease when administered parenterally. Primarily vaccinated animals develop immunity b_ day 21.

Type of packing

The vaccine is filled in glass or plastic vials at _ volume of 50, 100 and 200 cm3 stoppered with rubber stoppers and sealed with aluminium caps, and labeled according to STO. Other types of packing are possible if appropriately approved. Balk vaccine is filled in metal or polymer containers at a volume of 10000, 20000, 25000 and 50000 cm3

Storage conditions

The shelf-life is 18 months from the date of production provided the vaccine is stored and transported in a place protected from direct sunlight at 2°C- 8°C.


The vaccine batch is accompanied with the Certificate containing the main physicochemical and biological characteristics of the vaccine.
